These presented here are some of the more conventional and traditional therapies and treatments of cancer. Unfortunately or not some of these procedures themselves are not very survival oriented in relationship to living cells. This should be taken into account when bring presented with choices to treat cancer. Some physicians will persist in presenting a picture to their patients that many of these tried and true treatments are they way to go or are the only way to go in treating cancer. The person needing the treatment should investigate this in full and second opinions are the best bet in looking into caustic or harsh was to treat cancer. Remember cancer cells are still living cells or tissue of the body that have become non-functional and can threaten life. How you go about treating these cells of the body may determine your own life potential and future. Become aware of all the alternatives and modalities that can assist you in seeing your self through to being cancer free.

Surgery

This is the oldest and most successful approach to cancer treatment in many cases. Yet not all cancers need surgery or to be cut out. There are two surgical approaches. One is to find out if the cancer is localized so that it has not spread. In many cases just the removal of the tumor may handle the cancer or its possible spread. In another case of looking at it through complications such as its spread, a patient needs to find out to what degree and what needs to be removed if that is what can be done. If spread too far, surgery may not be the next step and some other modality will need to be investigated. In the simple approach the tumor is discovered and removed. In the two-stage approach, only the biopsy is done. Then methods of treatment are discussed. If surgery needs to be completed this is followed to ride the body of a possible killer. The tumor is removed and any other possible treatments need to be discussed for a good follow up. Radical surgery involves the removal of a portion of the body not just the tumor. It may include removal of organs or rerouting parts of your systems.

Radiation Therapy

The purpose of this therapy is to make the tumors shrink or disappear. This does this by damaging the genetic structure or the DNA of the tumor cells so that they can’t grow or divide. The damage is carried out by means of a bean of x-rays, gamma rays or electrons aimed directly at the tumor. This is performed from a high-energy x-ray machine, which is set up at a specific distance from the body part or area or by radioactive materials placed inside or close to the tumor. There is usually no pain involved. It is done over several minutes. The side effects can be feeling tired and needing to rest. Radiation may be the only treatment needed for some localized cancers, or it might be used along with other kinds of therapy.

Chemotherpay

This is treating cancer with 5-fluorouracil. The side effects can be unpleasant and some people can not be treated with chemotherapy at all. It is generally used to treat cancers that have traveled throughout the body to other places. In some cases this is performed through injections and other times a port is surgically placed in the area so that several treatments can be applied. Another way of treatment over a long period of time is to surgically place an infusion pump with the body so that chemicals can be administers over a longer time frame. Some of the side effects can be controlled by using anti-nausea drugs or other medications.

Laser Therapy

This usually used for cancers of the skin, trachea, lungs, esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum and anus. It involves using high-intensity light to destroy tumor cells. There are two main ways of performing this kind of therapy. Endoscopic Laser Therapy is used by attaching a laser light to a tube, which can enter the body. It can vaporize tissue internally. Photodynamic Laser Therapy uses chemicals to make the laser more effective as the tissue becomes more sensitive to the light. This allows the laser to be more precise in its cell destroying action.

Hyperthermia

This is the use of elevated temperature, which is the use of heat to treat cancer. They can be divided into three broad categories-localized. Regional and whole body heating. When the temperature rises above 106 degrees Fahrenheit or 41 degree centigrade, the heat starts to damage cells. How much damage is done depends on the temperature and the length of exposure. Localized heating of tumors is used for external applications. The equipment is connected so that different types of energy can be used to heat up the tumor area. These may be microwave, radiofrquency or ultrasound. This can be done inside the body through needles that the heat is placed within after they are injected into the tumor. Regional hyperthermia involves using microwave or radiofrequency applicators to heat large volumes of tissue deep inside the body. Whole body heating can be accomplished by using hot water blankets. These are specialized oven-like devices.

The side effects form this form of therapy can be discomfort or even significant local pain in the area treated. It can also cause blisters, which usually heal rapidly or in some causes it can cause burns that need to be surgically dealt with. This form of therapy is usually done in combination with other treatments.

Bone Marrow Transplantation

Is performed under certain circumstances. It is the process of replacing the defective bone marrow of an otherwise healthy person. Although 90 per cent of all bone marrow transplants are performed to treat cancers and specifically bone cancers. There are several types of bone marrow transplants:

Allogeneic:

This involves the transfer of marrow from one individual to a completely different

Individual. The marrow donor is selected through a process known as human leukocyte

            antigen (HLA) typing.

Matched vs Unmatched:

Each individual has genes on one chromosome that code for problems that appear on the

cells surface and are involved in cell self-recognition. These bits of information, or

antigens, can be identified which makes it possible to assess whether bone marrow from

two individuals would be matched or unmatched

Related vs Unrelated:

The best matches come from brothers or sisters. These will have the closets to having

the same gene material. The next things, besides this is to find a matched donor from

            those people outside the family.

Syngeneic:

The best donor for any bone marrow transplant is an identical twin. Since identical twins

share all the same genes they have exactly the HLA antigens, so there is no risk of rejection.

Antologous:

A somewhat similar situation arises if someone receives his or her own bone marrow

after high-dose chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. This can be done by removing

marrow before the transplant. This can be done by removing marrow before therapy and

keeping it in cold storage until treatment is complete. This is called cryopreserving. This

procedure is called an autotransplant or autologous bone marrow transplanet. You

should avoid the problems associated with introducing cells with different HLA types.

There should be no risks of rejection. It does increase the risk of possibly reinfusing

cancer cells that were inadvertently stored along  with the marrow.

Blood Transfusion

In this there are procedures that need to be followed to insure some success. You want to be able to determine that a cancer is sensitive to high-dose therapy and cannot be cured with simpler treatment. You next want to identify a source of marrow stem cells. Then in some cases, you would have high-dose chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy, which will kill the cancer and, in an allogeneic transplant, destroy the immune system. Next step is to infuse the stem cells intravenously. Finally you want to have the procedure managed for any complications until the marrow produces enough normal blood cells, and, in an allogeneic transplant, until the graft-versus-host disease is controlled.

Cryotherapy

In this procedure the cells or tissues are exposed to lower then normal conditions. This freezing of the cells can cause death or disruption to them. In this way cancer cells can be dealt with easily and effectively. There may be some numbness that will ware off as well as discoloration that can be healed. In the surgery a special cold probe is used to be applied to the cancerous area.

Radiation Implantation (Brachytherapy or Interstitial Radiation Therapy)

The use of a radioactive “seed” implanted directly into a tumor. This allows a very high but sharply localized dose of radiation to be given to a tumor while sparing surrounding tissues from significant radiation exposure.

Physiological Therapy, Counseling and Support Groups

Prior to while and after dealing with the physical procedures of cancer you may decide that you need physiological therapy to help articulate various areas of the body and gain back any lost mobility. You want to ensure that you also receive counseling. This will help you to realize that all the treatments are bringing you back to be healthy again. In the wake of this process worries, anxieties, frustrations and fears may arise that need to be worked through and dealt with. Your best bet for a speedy recovery is to find a support group that you can learn from dealing with cancer. You ultimately want to learn how to reintegrate all calls so that they can function in harmony with all the other parts.

Alternative Cancer Therapies:

These are just some of the main areas for alternative treatment. You should become familiar with each of these if you are treating yourself or being treated for any form of cancer. Even if you decide not to do all alternative treatments some of these may be very helpful along with the treatment that you do choose.

Immunologic Therapies:

The basis of this form of therapy is that cancer can develop when the immune system of the body begins to breakdown. It is aimed at assisting and building up the body’s own natural immune system so that it can halt any progress of cancer.

There are two doctors that are well known in this area. One is Doctor Josef Issels who works with what is known as the whole-body program. This includes vaccines, diet and fever therapy. A pioneer in alternative cancer treatment, Josef Issels, a doctor of medicine in Germany, achieved remarkable remissions, even in advanced cases, through combination of therapies designed to shrink the tumor and repair the body's defense mechanisms. His "whole body" approach included anticancer vaccines, an anticancer diet emphasizing organic raw foods, and fever therapy to stimulate immune function. He also used a variety of methods to rebuild the immune system and change the body's biochemistry to eliminate an environment favorable for the development of cancer. Occasionally he also used very-low-dose chemotherapy, surgery, radiation and ozone therapy in combination with immunotherapy. He prescribed organ extracts to repair damage to organs and improve their functioning. He also administered organ-specific RNA and DNA, proteolytic enzymes to destroy the protein coat surrounding tumors, as well as vitamins and minerals to strengthen the body's enzyme activity. He recommended his patients to have the infected teeth and/or tonsils, and metallic (especially mercury amalgam) fillings removed, because he felt these could have unfavorable effect on immune system. His program also includes psychotherapy to deal with the emotional factors that he felt could hinder recovery. Doctor Issels gave patients a "fever shot" once a month to raise the body temperature as high as 105 F. He induced active fever with the ethical drug Pyrifer, made from specially treated coli bacteria. He induced passive fever by means of hyperthermia: the patient was placed inside a cylinder containing electrodes that bombarded his or her body with ultra short waves. He tried to motivate the cancer patients to take on full time struggle against cancer. As one unusual example, his cancer patients were routed out of their beds to do light mountain climbing in the Bavarian Alps. The patients also participated in a daily exercise that included jogging. Two independent studies - one at King's college Hospital in London, the other at the University of Leyden in Holland - confirmed that about 17 percent of Issel's terminal patients led normal, cancer-free lives for at least five years. Their life expectancy upon admission had been less than one year. A "multimodality immunotherapy program" based on his method is offered by Doctor Ahmed Elkadi and colleagues at the Panama City Clinic in Panama City, Florida. Another current practitioner of the Issels methods is Dr. Wolfgang Woeppel at the Hufeland Klinik in Bad Mergentheim, Germany.

The other doctor is Virginia C. Livingston-Wheeler. She used vaccines, diet, nutritional supplements and gamma globulin. She pioneered a vaccine to counteract the effects of Progenitor cryptocides and employed diet and other natural means to fight cancer. She also postulated that a natural food constituent, abscisic acid, had anti-cancer properties. In February 1990, Kenneth W. Kizer, California Health Director, issued ordered her clinic to "cease and desist from prescribing and using autogenous vaccines in treating patients." Doctor Livingston-Wheeler was never contacted by the authorities before the order was implemented. Nor were there any patient complaints about the clinic or its treatment. Yet the Livingston Foundation Medical Center still treats patients even today. Perhaps not with Doctor Livingston-Wheeler’s autogenous vaccines, yet their treatments of sound nutrition in handling cancer or immune related disorders along with patient counseling has gained much notice and acceptance as of late.

Herbal Therapies:

In these forms of therapy herbal remedies, which are some of the oldest and most accepted forms of medicine in the world, are administered to strengthen the body’s own ability to reduce and eliminate cancer cells from the body.

If you are doing preventive measures for cancer or doing cancer therapy you should become aware of some of these herbs and what they can do for you. The herbs that work via the liver, augmenting its detoxifying activity, are especially useful. These include Burdock, Blue Flag and Yellow Dock. The kidneys are important in elimination of excess nutrients and liquids that are not needed by the body. They are aided by the use of Cleavers and Dandelion. Remedies that have a specific tonic and cleansing action on the lymphatic system are especially indicated in the herbal approach to cancer. These herbs would include such herbs as Cleavers, Echinacea and Poke Root. In the general treatment you might want to include Green Tea, a good antioxidant, Pau d’arco, an immune builder and viral inhibiter, Red Clover, noticed for its anti-neoplastic action when applied to tumors in a poultice and Suma, the root of which has been used successfully in treating many forms of cancer and has been known to relieve pains associated with cancer.

For those who develop external cancers such as skin cancer, make poultices of Comfrey, Pau ’darco, Ragwort and Wood Sage and apply often. These have been known to shrink tumors. In this case the comfrey is used externally only.

Cat’s Claw is another herb that enhances the immune system and its function and has anti-tumor properties. Cat’s Claw Defense Complex from Source Naturals is a combination of other herbs that include antioxidant nutrients such as beta-carotene, N-acetylcysteine, vitamin and zink.

Hoxsey Therapy is one of the main treatments that utilize internal and external use of herbal remedies and preparations. For over three decades, Harry Hoxsey (1901-1974), a self-taught healer, cured many cancer patients using an herbal remedy reportedly handed down by his great-grandfather.

Hoxsey himself believed that his therapy normalized and balanced the chemistry within the body. Like many other holistic healers, he considered cancer to be a systemic disease, not a localized one. Cancer, he wrote, "occurs only in the presence of a profound physiological change in the constituents of body fluids and a consequent chemical imbalance in the organism." His herbal medicines are intended to restore the original chemical balance to the body's disturbed metabolism, creating an environment unfavorable to cancer cells, which cease to multiply and eventually die. The herbal remedies are said to strengthen the immune system and to help carry away wastes and toxins from the tumors that the herbal compounds caused to necrotize. While this theory may be inexact, current research appears to be vindicating Hoxsey, or at least showing that his method merits a thorough, unbiased investigation by the medical orthodoxy. By the 1950s, the Hoxsey Cancer Clinic in Dallas was the world's largest private cancer center, with branches in seventeen states. Born in Illinois, the charismatic practitioner of herbal folk medicine faced unrelenting opposition and harassment from a hostile medical establishment. Nevertheless, two federal courts upheld the "therapeutic value" of Hoxsey's internal tonic. Even his archenemies, the American Medical Association and the Food and Drug Administration, admitted that his treatment could cure some forms of cancer. A Dallas judge ruled in federal court that Hoxsey's therapy was "comparable to surgery, radium, and x-ray" in its effectiveness, without the destructive side effects of those treatments. Hoxsey treated external cancers with a red paste made of bloodroot (Sanguinaria Canadensis - a common wildflower-mixed with zinc chloride and antimony sulfide. The rootstock of bloodroot, a spring-blooming flower, contains an alkaloid, sanguinarine that has powerful anti-tumor properties. North American Indians living along the shores of Lake Superior used the red sap from bloodroot to treat cancer. Drawing on Indian lore, Dr. J. W. Fell, working at Middlesex Hospital in London in the 1850s, developed a paste made of bloodroot extract, zinc chloride, flour, and water. Applied directly to a malignant growth, Dr. Fell's paste generally destroyed it within two to four weeks. In the 1960s, various teams of doctors reported the complete healing of cancers of the nose, external ear, and other organs using a paste made of bloodroot and zinc chloride-a mixture virtually identical to Hoxsey's. These are used in conjunction with diet, vitamin and mineral supplements. This also includes psychological counseling. These all work in tandem to strengthen the mind and body in handling cancer. The types of cancer said to respond best to the treatment include lymphoma, melanoma, and external (skin) cancer. The clinic's patient brochure includes case histories of patients successfully treated for breast, cervical, prostate, colon, and lung cancers.

Today we know that Hoxsey's plant-based remedies contain naturally occurring compounds with potent anticancer effects. According to eminent botanist James Duke, Ph.D., of the United States Department of Agriculture, all of the Hoxsey herbs have known anticancer properties. All of them are cited in Plants Used Against Cancer, a global compendium of folk usage of medicinal plants compiled by NCI chemist Jonathan Hartwell. Furthermore, Duke noted, the Hoxsey herbs have long been used by Native American healers to treat cancer, and traveling European doctors picked up the knowledge and took it home with them to treat patients.

Driven from the United States by the AMA, The FDA and other well meaning money making groups, the Hoxsey Therapy can be checked into for its safety and success rate by contacting the Bio-Medical Center in Mexico where it operates successful handlings of many types of cancer.

Another herbal formula that has been very successful in treating all kinds of cancer has been what has been called Essiac. A Canadian nurse by the name of Rene Cassie in 1923 observed that a woman with terminal cancer made a complete recovery. Rene found that the women had cured herself with an herbal formula that an Ojibway Native American herbalist had given her. He explained that the Ojibaway people have utilized their herbal remedy for both spiritual balance and body healing. The formulas consisted of four herbs sheep Sorrel, Burdock Root, Slippery Elm Bank and Rhubarb Root.

Rene used the formula successfully and by 1938 it was approval in Canada. It can be purchased in the United States and many people have found it to be a blessing. The formula is called Essiac which is Cassie back words.

Another formula that is marketed as coming from the same source was put together by Elaine Alexander. It is called Flor*Essence and is purported to contain the original formula of Rene Cassie with additional herbs of Watercress, Blessed Thistle, Red Clover and Kelp. It should be noted that while Flor*Essence is a potent formula with much testimonials to its use, on its own it is not the same as Essiac as the formulas differ.

Metabolic Therapies:

These therapies are based upon the idea that many factors cause the occurrence of cancer. It may require a multifaceted healing approach to eliminate this disorder. These therapies use detoxification, including colon cleansing, to flush out any toxins; anticancer diets based on whole foods, vitamins, minerals and enzymes which further cleanse the body, repair damaged tissues and stimulate immune functions. Doctor Max Gerson’s Therapy follows along with this kind of therapy. Gerson therapy, a dietary approach that has been used by some to treat cancer and other diseases, focuses on the role of minerals, enzymes, hormones, and other dietary factors in restoring health and well-being. The daily regimen calls for drinking 13 glasses of juice prepared from fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, and eating vegetarian meals prepared from organically grown fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Various supplements are given, including an iodine solution called Lugol, Vitamin B-12, potassium, thyroid hormone, an injectable crude liver extract, and pancreatic enzymes. Enemas, including coffee or chamomile enemas, are recommended on a regular basis to detoxify the body. Salt, spices, and aluminum cookware or utensils are not used when preparing food. Gerson therapy was named after Dr. Max B. Gerson, who initially developed this approach to treat his migraine headaches. He seemed able to treat and in some cases cure even advanced cancer with a dietary approach that included controversial coffee enemas.

Mind-Body Therapies:

These treatments focus on the role that emotions, behavior and faith play in recovery from illness and especially cancer. In the case of various therapies, counseling, hypnosis, biofeedback and other techniques can be utilized to promote greater emotional and spiritual well-being. In these cases it is their aim to change the course of the illness by accessing the mind-body relationship. These are used in order to bring the person into remission. These techniques can also be used as preventative measures that can assist this mind-body connection to maintain its health. Doctors O. Carl Simonton and Stephanie Matthews Simonton have developed visualization techniques that assist patients to increase the effectiveness of their immune systems.

Other note worthy people that work with similar information are Louise L. Hay the founder of Hay House and advocate of Affirmations to assist in the healing process. In her book You Can Heal Your Life, She contends that cancer in general is caused by “Deep hurt. Longstanding resentment. Deep secret of grief eating away at the self. Carrying hatreds. What’s the use?” She suggests using the affirmation “I lovingly forgive and release all of the past. I choose to fill my world with joy. I love and approve of myself.” Leukemia is listed as “Brutally killing inspiration. What’s the use?” Suggested affirmation is “I move beyond past limitations into the freedom of the now. It is safe to be me.” Keeping yourself affirmed with a positive attitude toward the issues that propagated cancer is very helpful in beginning the process of balance between the mind and the emotions.

In his book The Symbolic Message of Illness, Doctor Calvin V. Pop states that cancer is, being out of control. He states that, “The common denominator in cancer is cell growth that has gotten out of control. These cells are mirroring deeply buried issues that want to be brought to your attention.” He contends that various systems, organs and glands and portions of the body are symbolic representations of who we are expressing ourselves to be. When we begin to understand what the symbolic representations are, we can work toward bringing ourselves into alignment with our purpose and begin to heal our bodies. If we learn to handle the issues that the various parts of the body affected by cancer portray, we can, in affect, begin to reverse much of the cause or the need to have cancer. This may seem to present a simplistic view of “just do this and it’s handled”. This is not so. It has taken a person many years to acquire the attitudes and emotional baggage that surround this issue. This began the process that eventually exhibited itself as cancer. Working with these symbolic ideas is a process of stepping into and learning how to operate our lives from a very different perspective than we may be used to. It calls for us to find security in our selves and feel comfortable about those around us as well as ourselves.

Doctor Pop gives us a window through which we can to begin our own examination of cancer. He states, “Leukemia is correlated with the way we defend ourselves. It is a cancer of leukocytes – a type of white blood cells which play a role in the defense mechanism of our body. If the illness is acute, there is a high degree of intensity in the response. If it is chronic then a long, simmering process is at its basis.” “In Lymphoma, the lymphatic system is affected. This system has the role of slowly carrying toxins away from the cells. If it is affected by cancer, there is a deep symbolic need to cleanse the system of emotional and mental toxins that result from longstanding hurts in life. A feeling of restriction, together with a blockage of emotional expression, are paramount in Lymphoma.” “Breast cancer has a strong correlation with a woman’s sense of self. An unfulfilled desire to provide nourishment and mothering may be held inside and ultimately be expressed as breast cancer.” Thus women that advance throughout life without children are at a higher risk as well as those who do not breast-feed their children. These mothering qualities are present in both men and women. In most men we call this fathering. Some men relate more with being the provider of nourishment then with the guidance role of a father. They can find themselves in a similar place as a woman does and develop breast cancer for similar reasons. This need to nourish is not just about concerning others. It relates to self-nourishing as well as feeling nourished. In the case of Colon Cancer Doctor Pop states, “Colon cancer deals with issues of elimination. There is an unexpressed subconscious need to let go of the past, especially of material things and of outdated baggage that is not serving the person any longer.” In this case it becomes imperative to our health to learn to eliminate things that are blocking the flow of life itself. This process will invite and allow new experiences.

Another fascinating book that talks about illness and specifically cancer is that of Annette Noontil of Australia in her book, The Body Is The Barometer Of The Soul. In this work she states that cancer is “A form of self-destruction. Not changing concept or concepts in the area that is affected.” She contends that “Everything we think has an effect on our bodies” she also says, “Disease does not bring pain. The pain of your soul brings disease. Pain is good because it gives you the idea that you need to look into yourself. Use the pain.” She states that breast cancer is, “Not nurturing yourself. Doing for others before you.” Lung Cancer – “Self destruction. Not being devoted to yourself enough to resist others telling you how to do things. Giving in doing things their way.” Bone cancer – “Resentment is so strong that you do not want the change so it will destroy you.” Kidney cancer – “You are giving up. You think you cannot do anything about the situation to have a good relationship with yourself or others.” Her presentation of the statements that the various portions of our bodies make, are pretty spot on. This would include origin points where cancer has begun to form. Once again it would be a matter of learning to change how you view yourself and reaffirming to yourself or others, as needed, the positive side of yourself in relation to that area which contains cancer.

These kinds of views and the books involved are not only advantages to us after cancer has been established, they can also begin to give us inklings of what might come even before cancer takes hold in an area of your body. Working on issues and relieving and alleviating your psyche of festering old tapes and programs, prevents future disruption that can lead to pre-cancerous formations in various portions of the body. It then is imperative that we begin, today, to form a report with ourselves and our bodies and claim ourselves as whole, in turn, learning to treat our bodies as the vehicles of our life. These carry the essence of our true selves. We don’t kick our automobile to make it go, we listen and sense any irregularities and have the vehicle maintenanced before it needs more radical care. So it is with our bodies. We need to learn how to listen to what sets off reactions and can build up energetic flow problems throughout the various systems in the body.

Nutritional Therapies:

Most forms of cancer can be traced to significant imbalances in nutrition. The amount of data connecting diet and nutrition to cancer is voluminous. Much of the foods we eat may or may not have the nutritional quality needed to healthfully sustain your body properly. Diets high in fat drastically increase your chances for contracting colon, breast and possibly other forms of cancer. Look for foods that are high in beta-carotene and have a good distribution of vitamins and minerals are your best beat. Fresh Vegetables and foods are the best, next to this or frozen foods where the nutrients have been sealed into the foods. Whole foods and whole grains play an important part of counteracting the affects of any form of cancer or preventing it.

There are several recommendations for those who are doing preventive measures and those who may be treating cancer. Proper diet is essential to beating the odds or over coming cancer itself. As mentioned above eat a diet that contains grains, nuts, seeds, wheat, if you are not wheat intolerant, oat products, bran and unpolished brown rice. Millet cereal is a good source of protein.

Make sure you include into your diet the foods that best prevent cancer or assist in forwarding healthy call growth. These foods would include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, cauliflower, yellow and deep orange vegetables such as carrots, pumpkin, squash, and yams, fruits such as apples berries, Brazil nuts, cantaloupes, cherries, grapes, legumes which include chickpeas (Garbanzo beans), lentils and red beans and plums. Berries assist in protecting your DNA from damage.

Sprouts, another food that are high in antioxidants. These should be cooked or steamed slightly, except Alfalfa sprouts, which should be eaten raw. Alfalfa Sprouts are also a good source of antioxidants that help alleviate arthritis and rheumatism.

Magnetic Therapy:

All stages of cancers have been treated with the use of magnets. This would consist of the use of the North pole energies with a 1800 to 3800 gauss strength. The north side of a magnet always promotes biological healing. Mostly the size of the tumor will determine the size of the magnet. In tests that have been conducted over years a treatment time of at least 45 minutes has been used successfully. This will vary from person to person as each person will have the time of treatment that is best for their individual body. The best treatment is one that is consistent and 3 times is day for 3 weeks. This is a good average. The length of time may be estimated at 3 months. This is totally dependant upon the case in question. Some patients require longer sessions and some may need treatments more often, other over perhaps 6 months to a year.

Benign tumors should be treated directly with ceramic magnets or 3 to 4 stacked plastiform magnets. In addition a magnetic bed can be used which has been used to produce a more restful state of sleep for some people. Make sure to consult your physician as to your use of magnets and to examine your progress.

Touch and Energy Therapies:

The thing that touch and energy therapies have in common is that they are not invasive and are very supportive of the process of healing. They are based on the fact of the body being an energy field and that it radiates or has other fields internal and external. Touch and energy therapies work in different ways to bring the physical body back to it original form. There are many of these therapies by name. These are some that are most helpful. Cancer can be easily addresses with these therapies and have proven very effective in assisting the healing process.

Therapeutic Touch:

This is described as the manipulation of energy or the life force in order to assist the body to heal. In these procedures the Practitioner moves energies and releases blocked or stuck flows with their hands. It is very relaxing and helpful. In the 1970’s Dolores Krieger, PhD, RN, who was a professor of nursing at New York University (NYU), developed Therapeutic Touch. She wanted to train nurses to help patients in their healing process. In this way nurses helped bring therapeutic touch to prominence. It has since become a viable and widely used method of dealing with all kinds of conditions. It consists of a series of manipulations around the body or on the body or at the cancer site. There does not need to be any physical contact.

With cancer it is used to augment treatments and have the patient release stresses and tensions that can cause imbalances in the chemical make up of the patient. It also is helpful to relax the patient so that they can experience healing more readily. For more information on Therapeutic Touch (Click)

Reiki and the Radiance Technique:

Rei means universal in Japanese and ki means essence or life force. Thus Reiki comes to mean universal life force. They approach the healing process similarly. It is a process of either placing the hands on self or another in order to flow life force energy to the person. Reiki may have originated in Tibet more than 2,500 years ago. Reiki was rediscovered in the 1840’s by Doctor Mikao Usui, a Christian minister in Kyoto, Japan. In arrived in the United States sometime after World War II. Reiki later made headways in the United States and two organizations were formed. In the summer of 1980, the American-International Reiki Association was founded; the Reiki Alliance was formed in May 1983. During Reiki’s exportation, Doctor Barbara Weber Ray of Florida expanded the original techniques used and has called this the Radiance Technique. These two techniques are from the same origin. Both forms of Reiki use hands-on procedures and teach the student how to perform a session on self and another. They both use a series of sounds and symbols to initiate healing.

Cancer is one of many ailments and illnesses that are treated with Reiki and the Radiance Technique. You can either take the training of the various degrees to learn how to access the energy inherent in Reiki energy or you can employ a Reiki or Radiance practitioner to perform a session on you. These will have many fine benefits for the person under going cancer treatment or even prior, during and following treatment. ONA:

ONA is an ancient concept, which means, in brief – whole self. It Works with the primary life energies either on the physical body or at the route or source of the illness. It addresses the person as a creator and co-creator, to examine their whole self in order to come into the state of wholeness. Hands-on procedures on self and on others, breathing techniques and sound can be used along with various other healing techniques that can initiate the process of whole self.

This is most helpful in treating cancers of any kind, as the cause has been something that has gone undetected by the person that has developed cancer. It is through the ONA techniques that the client or patient can came to understand the patterns in their emotions and thinking that have laid in a pattern of cancer. The person can learn how to readdress those areas of their life to remedy what has contributed to set cancer in motion.

Taking treatment is easy. You need to schedule sessions with a trained ONA Practitioner. The best route and most comprehensive way is by participating in the ONA Workshops. This advised particularly for patients and their caregivers, physicians or even family and friends. These are a series of thirteen workshops that introduce you to your multidimensional self. You learn how to claim all of you and how to develop healthy thoughts and emotions that can support your living a healthy life. For more information about ONA, to find an ONA Practitioner or to find out more concerning the ONA Workshops click here.

Biological and Pharmacological Therapies:

Surgery is the most common treatment for removal of cancer cells and/or tissue. This requires knowing where the cells and/or tissues are and which are cancerous. In the removal of small amounts of tissue, healthy tissue or skin can grow back in the area to make up for the loss in structure. In most cases this comes from very early detection. In radical procedures prosthetic body parts are suggested that will fill in the gaps or missing areas.

Radiation therapy uses x-rays produced by a machine called a linear accelerator or a cobalt machine to kill cancer cells from the outside and shrink tumors (external-beam radiation therapy). Radiation therapy may also be used by putting materials that produce radiation (radioisotopes) through thin plastic tubes into the tumor to kill cancer cells from the inside (internal radiation therapy).

Chemotherapy uses drugs to kill cancer cells. Chemotherapy may be taken by pill, or it may be put into the body by a needle in the vein or muscle. Chemotherapy is called a systemic treatment because the drug enters the bloodstream, travels through the body, and can kill cancer cells throughout the body.

Biological therapy (using the body's immune system to fight cancer) is also being studied in clinical trials. Biological therapy uses materials made by the body or made in a laboratory to boost, direct, or restore the body's natural defenses against disease. Biological therapy is sometimes called biological response modifier therapy or immunotherapy.

Pharmacological treatments for various types of cancer can affect a stabilizing effect on the types of cancer they are developed to treat. With many types of pharmaceuticals, the side affects are sometimes worse then the illness. You need to know what medicines are compatible with each other as well. Here are some of the pharmacological medicines that are prescribed for specific types of cancer:
